If you like Dover coloring books, Celtic art or illuminated letters, you simply have got to get this book. I found it at my local Half Price Books at what I thought was a deal only to return it when I purchased it here on Amazon for less, even including shipping. Look at the images the other reviewer uploaded. Truly a pleasant book to browse even if you don't put it to practical use. I've been wanting to design my own needlework and this is inching me on one more step toward doing that.

I do find it odd, though, and haven't seen this before in the million Dover books I have: all these images are royalty-free but in the front of the book you're told that you can use up to 10 of each image. More than that and you're to ask for written permission.

This price really surprised me. It's an incredible deal at 14.99 for this collection of 247 jpgs in full color and 27 black and white TIFFS from predominately the Book of Kells and Book of Lindisfarne. The downside is the color graphics are in JPEG lossy format. The black and whites are in great print ready TIFF format but there are only 27 of them. There are another 45 vector based EPS (Encapsulated Postscript i.e. the output from Adobe Illustrator) graphics which is the only reason it went from 3 stars to 4 as that was a very nice bonus. But, I really wish Dover would get rid of JPGS and go to PNGS or even lossless JPEG (i.e. JPEG-2000). In the meantime, if you want this for decoupage, cross stitch, rosemaling...it's a good source particularly at the price (I've used them for some fabric stencil work myself). But Dover has got to get its act together on the JPGS./TKL
