Amazon, Like quite a few others, I downloaded this ebook, and as soon as I opened it, my Kindle locked up. I restarted my Kindle and tried again, only to lock it up again. I tried several other ebooks I have to make sure it wasn't something I did, and I encountered no problems with any of those ebooks. I thought I'd try one more time to see if I could be the subject book to work and locked up again. This time my Kindle just listed all the books without my collections. So I have to go and redo all of my collections and enter those books into them. Please either fix this book, or delete it from the Amazon electronic library.Product details

The free version of this book has a glitch. The text goes from the first page of the author's foreword straight to the end of the book, indicating that you should turn the book over for another great read (at least one publisher issued double editions of classic sf). Though the Look Inside preview is fine, there is no book to read on my Fire HD.

I had most Bertram Chandlers books in paperback, until I lost them in a move, now you can get them on line. I'm going to use up my book budget buying and rereading the series in the next few weeks
This is one of Bradley's older books, possibly even from before Darkover, but has many of the same elements as the Darkover novels. The e-format is tricky (see other reviews); I had to go to about 5% as if you start at the cover and page through the front matter, you end up almost at the end of the book. If you go to 5%, you can page backwards to the first of the story and read through without any problems. As for the story, it was fast-paced, with a few surprises. Great characters and story-line. I recommend it especially for Bradley fans, but also for anyone who enjoys solid science-fiction.
The ending was somewhat unexpected and the smashing of the Toy-makers Shop was definitely anti Santa Claus although the author might not have meant it that way. The sex could have been left out entirely and the book would have flowed better. Not one of the author's best but may have be indicating of better books later, this may have been written early in her career. Did have to go online to download to my device.
The book flips from the intro to the ads at the end of the book. I could use the slider to read...if I was willing to skip the first 20 or so pages.
I almost didn't pick it because it said it was only 6 pages long. It was either longer, or the story was interesting enough that I enjoyed it and eventhough it could have been a much more detailed book, the story was very interesting. The Author created a planet that had a population of natives that seemed capable of working with humans but different enough that humans had to pick their way carefully through the cultural differences. Pretty much as simple as traveling from one country to another. In some, the wrong word could get you killed. In other's, the natives would ignor your ignorance. I recommend it for a short, entertaining read.
