Montana Actually A Medicine River Romance Fiona Lowe 9780425276952 Books

I was sitting next to Fiona Lowe at the RWAus dinner at last year’s conference, when she showed me the cover for Montana Actually. Now, I would have read this book if it had come with a brown paper bag as a cover, but the cover Fiona showed me drew me in just that little bit further.

You all know how much I loved Fiona’s recent series set in Wisconsin, so you can imagine how excited I was when I heard that this Medicine River series was in the works. Let me tell you, it was totally worth tapping my feet in anticipation for!

Here are my thoughts on Montana Actually:

Montana Actually is a brilliant way to kick off the Medicine River series. It has that small town charm that I love (and that Fiona does so well), realistic characters and believable dialogue, and a couple with fantastic chemistry.

I love that both Kat and Josh are iffy about commitment, and that the reluctance to become emotionally involved isn’t just one-sided. Josh isn’t staying, and Kat has had a BAAAD relationship breakup, so it makes sense that neither is looking for their Right Person. However, neither is entirely averse to having a Right-Now Person. I love these storylines – watching them both realise at some point that they want more is awesome. I loved Kat and Josh as a couple – they worked really well for me, and I knew from the start that I cared about whether or not they made it.

Another thing I loved about Montana Actually was the background stuff. The threads around both Kat and Josh’s families, the conflicts and challenges they have faced, and even the gorgeous secondary romance between Beau and Shannon, wove together to create a beautifully complementary back story. Even better, it never threatened to overwhelm the most important thing – the relationship building between Kat and Josh.

As always, there is a great sense of humour and fun in Fiona’s writing, and it really is evident in Montana Actually. Great start to another series that I am sure to love!!

P.S. I’ve read many a book of late set in Montana, and with each one that I read, I just want to get over there and visit. Just don’t offer me any Rocky Mountain Oysters…..

Just started reading her books. Makes me want to move to Montana. Great read!
A touching, heartwarming, and thrilling romance. I highly recommend this book, and the other Medicine River stories.
This book needs to move along much faster. I doubt that I will go to this author again any time soon.
Fiona Lowe delivers witty dialog with well-rounded characters and subplots that help move the story forward.
I have never read a book by this Author. I was impressed by her writing style. The book intorduced many characters thought the book, which lead to several story lines. Not a boring read at tall. It was worth the read. I will read another book by this Author.
I loved this book...where big city doctor meets the small, close-knit town of Bear Paw, Montana. He meets Katrina, her family, and town members and they turn his life upside down. I like the strong characters and great story line. Fiona Lowe's books are truly wonderful, enjoyable reads!
I loved this story. It was great. I bought it this a.m. and it is now 130 a.m. and I am finished reading it. WOW, I enjoyed every bit of it. A fancy big city doctor winds up in small town Montana to work off part of his student loans. He comes a little out of sorts and definitely not happy about his choice of places to work off his debt. He is use to the ER in a big city, Chicago, and now he is dealing with the flu and every day things that really don't call for his expertise.

So, he is going to take it out on everyone. His landlord turns out to be a local gal, a nurse that has been living in the east for the last 8 years and has returned home licking her wounds. She is coming out of a very bad relationship. It has not put her in the best mood either. These two slowly come together and an understanding. It is fun to watch them sparing with each other and then be there as things heat up.

There is a very sad part and it just broke my heart but it is the cycle of life and it is a part of being. Her brother Beau stole my heart. I loved this guy. He was just too good to be true!!! I was so happy his story worked out like it did. You just wanted to hug this guy.

A great story, very entertaining and I highly recommend it to anyone interested in a good plotline, great characters that you really like, a small town that you want to visit and a good love story., don't pass this one up.
